I’m Nathan (the “nathan” behind nathanworks). I am the Director of Management Information Systems for CareerSource Florida. I oversee the information and communication technology team and infrastructure including information security, cloud computing, software development, and systems administration. I have previously held positions in data management, systems administration, web development and donor relations. An avid technology enthusiast, I write and tweet regularly about Internet safety, new technologies, and mobile computing.
I earned a Master of Science degree in Management Information Systems from Florida State University. I also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from FSU, an Associate of Arts degree in music performance from Ricks College, and several technology certifications. I regularly volunteer for my church and enjoy reading non-fiction and historical fiction titles. I also enjoy playing my double bass and the piano. A native of New Mexico, I consider Florida home after stops in Idaho and Texas.
Technology I Work With
I Make IT Work
When I get calls to rescue people from tech issues, they often ask me to come “work my magic.” Of course, we all know it’s not magic. I work hard at learning, training, and practicing to make IT easy and work like magic. Those are key ingredients to success in any discipline, of course, but they are especially critical in the world of information and communication technology. Why? Technologies are constantly morphing, acquiring new features, capabilities, and capacity. There is no better example than cloud computing, which is at the center of everything we do on our devices. The cloud powers creativity, productivity, AI, machine learning, even the programming we consume on streaming services—and I’m right in the middle of it.
