Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Microsoft has built a really neat shortcut into Windows 10 that lets you quickly access emojis, kaomojis, and symbols. This is available in any app, so no matter what you are doing, from working in a browser to composing an email in Outlook, you have access to these special characters via the shortcut.

  1. Place your cursor where you want your emoji or special character to appear. Then press Windows Key + period (.). That will bring up this selection panel:Windows 10- Invoking the emoji and symbol selection panel
  2. Click on the emoji or symbol you want and it will be inserted at your cursor. If you want to insert more than one, keep clicking. When you’re done, simply click the X in the upper-right corner to close the selection panel.

You can search for emojis and symbols, too. With the selection panel open, start typing your search term, like smile or pizza. As you type, the graphics choices will narrow to those that match your search term.
